Optimize installed performance

The concept of “installed performance” is at the core of the engineering approach adopted by XRDi for its design and application of products and technologies.  This concept recognizes that all of the operating parameters of an engine and drive system must be carefully matched to the performance requirements and characteristics of the application for which they are intended.  As such, we take a comprehensive, total systems approach to working with our customers.   We examine all implications of the desired results, and ensure that our solution meets all of their needs.  


New Engine Development

From Design Concept to Reality.  We perform engine simulations from engine designs and produce engine prototypes for initial installation and testing.

 

 

Modification of existing engines 

Today's engine manufacturers require a new generation of engines that are highly fuel-efficient, compact and lighter in weight, with lower emissions. XRDi possesses, is developing, and is acquiring intellectual properties and technologies to meet these requirements.  We help companies reduce emissions in their current engine product line, increase engine performance, reduce cost to manufacture and perform engine benchmarking and testing services.


XRDi Engine technologies, in specific configurations:

  • Reduce fuel consumption by as much as 40%
  • Burn virtually any fuel (e.g. gasoline, diesel, kerosene, military fuels)
  • Reduce the weight and bulk of "heavy fuel" burning engines by as much as 50% as compared to standard diesel engines
  • Reduce emissions, and meet EPA standards
  • Reduce manufacturing costs

Regulatory Compliance

XRDi has the unique ability to offer a low cost solution to producing gasoline engines that meet ever-tightening emission standards (EPA 2006 Clean Air Act, EURO 1&2).

Coupled with the ability to reduce fuel consumption by up to 40%, XRDi’s engine technology offers a compelling opportunity for manufacturers and operators alike.

Heavy or Multi-Fuel Operation

The same technologies which allow XRDi engines to run efficiently and compliant with regulatory requirements using gasoline fuel also allow for reliable operation on: heavy fuels (JP-5 or 8, kerosene, or diesel); gasoline or Jet A; alternative fuels (ethanol or methanol); or combinations of these fuels.

XRDi has the ability to deliver this performance at costs well below current market offerings. Cost effective and reliable delivery of this technology allows XRDi to address market needs such as the U.S. Department of Defense one-fuel forward mandate; markets where gasoline is more costly than competing fuels; and other applications where the ability to burn heavy or multi fuels would increase performance, safety, or environmental regulation compliance.

Lightweight Powerplants

XRDi architectures meet an evolving Department of Defense mandate to reduce the weight of our military by 40% by replacing its current inventory of heavy diesels with newer, lighter power plants. This highly mobile military scenario is expected to lead to “exponential” growth in the demand for the kinds of lightweight power sources now being developed by XRDi.

Lower Cost Manufacturing

XRDi’s engine and drive system architectures are based on simplified designs as compared to currently available products. These designs allow for increased performance and lower manufacturing costs.
